Welcome to the XL Academy online homepage.

The XL Academy is a residential Christian Gap Year Programme based at Church @ The Foundry - Widnes - UK. If you are aged 18 - 25 years old and want to give 1 year of your life to God and His church whilst getting some excellent input from cutting edge leaders and ministries, then maybe the XL Christian Gap Year is for you. Applications are now being taken for September 2011 with limited spaces available. The Foundry is linked to AOG UK church networks and part of the Evangelical Alliance.

The dates for 2012 are Sept 22nd 2012 to July 14th 2013 with an extension week at SYC in August 2013.

The XL Academy is based at the Foundry Village, Widnes. During your Gap year, you will live together in one house with the other students who are on your course. You will not be partnered or placed in a house on your own with a family.

The XL Academy House is located in the Foundry Village, a 6 acre site comprising 45 Bungalows, 2 drug rehabilitation centres, admin offices & the Foundry Church building. This creates a real sense of community which you will love on the whole site..
Situated in the north west of England, between the cities of Liverpool and Manchester, Widnes lies in a strategic position in the UK. In the centre of Widnes lies the six-acre Foundry village which is the home of a unique and busy Christian centre, containing the largest meeting hall in the town.

The main building consists of a large auditorium capable of seating up to 600 people. Additional offices and meeting rooms are used for a variety of ministries, and a youth wing contains a full size sports hall, equipped computer suite, and the Loftzone with pool tables, and a chill out zone. There is also some residential accommodation, which is used as a base for the XL team.

Most of the remainder of the Foundry village has now been developed. Fairhavens Court comprises 45 bungalows for the elderly, and is set within landscaped gardens. These bungalows

are owned and administered by the church, and provide a video link to church services for each of our tenants.

The Lighthouse is a residential substance rehabilitation centre where young men are finding release from the chains of drug and alchol addiction. As far as we know, the Lighthouse is the only centre of its kind in the country, run by a local church on its own premises.

Church @ the Foundry is privileged to own the Foundry village. Affiliated to the Assemblies of God and a member of the Evangelical Alliance, the church is a centre of excellence and quickly growing within the North West of England.
